Mr James Huang is a consultant urological surgeon, proficient in all aspects of General Urology, and specialising in Urological Cancer and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
James graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School with Honours in 2003. He undertook advanced urology training in Melbourne, and was awarded a Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013.
Thereafter, James completed an additional Sub-Specialty Fellowship in Urological Oncology at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, University of British Columbia, Canada. Under the mentorship of Professor Martin Gleave and Professor Larry Goldenberg, he received additional training in all aspects of major oncology and minimally invasive treatment of cancers with advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has also undergone further training in robotic surgery and seed brachytherapy for prostate cancer in Hong Kong and Seattle USA.
James has over twenty publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of urology. He has presented at national and international meetings, and was awarded the Keith Kirkland Prize for the best clinical research at the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand Annual Scientific Meeting. He has worked in collaboration with the International Bladder Cancer Network and is a reviewer for the World Scientific Journal.
Through his public appointments at Western Health (Footscray Hospital, Williamstown Hospital, Sunshine Hospital) and Monash Health, James is actively involved in training the next generation of urology surgeons. He is the Supervisor of Urology Training at Monash Health. In addition, he regularly lectures medical students from the University of Melbourne, and has been involved in the selection process for urological trainees for several years.
His consulting rooms are located in Maribyrnong, Sunbury and Richmond. He operates privately at Epworth Richmond Hospital and Western Private Hospital.
