Mr James Huang
Consultant urologist and robotic surgeon, with a special interest in urological cancer and minimally invasive surgery.
A personal approach to specialist care
James is committed to individualised care and helping patients understand and participate in decisions about their treatment. He values prompt communication with referring doctors to support coordinated care.
Training and experience
James graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School with Honours in 2003. He completed advanced urology training in Melbourne and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013.
He subsequently completed a subspecialty fellowship in urological oncology at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, University of British Columbia, Canada, under Professor Martin Gleave and Professor Larry Goldenberg.
This included further training in major cancer surgery and advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. James has also undertaken additional training in robotic surgery and prostate brachytherapy in Hong Kong and Seattle.
Research and surgical education
James has published research in peer-reviewed urology journals and presented at national and international meetings. He was awarded the Keith Kirkland Prize for clinical research at the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand Annual Scientific Meeting.
Hospital appointments and teaching
James operates privately at Epworth Richmond Hospital and Western Private Hospital. His public appointments are at Western Health and Monash Health. He is also involved in training urology registrars and medical students. He previously served as the Supervisor of Urology Training at Monash Health.
